We believe a better everyday product should be made to last, use materials thoughtfully, and remove unnecessary complexity. From the way the umbrella is designed to the way it is packaged and cared for, each decision is guided by durability, restraint, and responsible use.
DESIGNED TO LAST
The most sustainable product is often the one that does not need to be replaced.
OAVA is designed for everyday use, with a reinforced eight-rib structure, durable umbrella fabric, and carefully considered components. The built-in sleeve is designed to remain connected to the handle, reducing the chance of losing a separate accessory and helping the product stay complete throughout its life.
RECYCLED AND CONSIDERED MATERIALS
Where suitable materials are available, we work toward incorporating recycled and recyclable materials into OAVA’s umbrella and sleeve components.
Our material choices are guided by more than appearance. We consider durability, weight, water resistance, tactile quality, and the possibility of future recycling. We continue to work with our manufacturing partners to improve material traceability and reduce the use of unnecessary mixed materials.
LESS MATERIAL, MORE PURPOSE
OAVA is reduced to what is needed.
The integrated sleeve eliminates the need for a separate cover, while the compact folding structure makes the umbrella easier to carry and store. By combining several functions within one considered design, we aim to reduce excess parts, excess packaging, and unnecessary consumption.
PACKAGING WITH RESTRAINT
Our packaging is designed to protect the product while using materials thoughtfully.
We favour paper-based packaging and aim to minimize unnecessary plastic, decorative layers, and oversized boxes. Whenever possible, packaging components are selected to be recyclable through standard household recycling systems.
We continue to review our packaging design as materials and production methods improve.
BUILT FOR EVERYDAY CARE
A product lasts longer when it is looked after properly.
OAVA’s quick-drying umbrella fabric and full-cover sleeve help make everyday care easier. After use, we recommend allowing the umbrella and sleeve to dry fully before storing them. Simple care can help preserve the materials, structure, and appearance of the product for longer.
RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION
We work with experienced manufacturing partners to develop and produce OAVA.
Through repeated sampling, structural testing, and physical prototypes, we refine the product before production begins. This process helps reduce unnecessary material waste, improve reliability, and ensure that each component has a clear purpose.
We are also working to improve visibility across our supply chain, including material origin, production practices, and quality control.
FEWER REPLACEMENTS, LESS WASTE
The sleeve is designed to stay connected to the umbrella handle, so it is less likely to be misplaced or replaced separately.
This small structural decision reflects a broader belief: thoughtful design can reduce everyday waste by helping people keep and use the products they already own.
