Where it began

When I was a child living in London, rain was simply part of the day.

I remember coming home from school with my umbrella still dripping. One afternoon, I placed it in my school bag without thinking. By the time I got home, the book inside was damp, its pages beginning to curl. It was a small thing, but I remember how frustrating it felt—there never seemed to be a good place for a wet umbrella.

A familiar inconvenience

Years later, the same problem was still there.

Umbrella sleeves were easy to leave behind, and most covered only the canopy, leaving the wet handle exposed. A few drops on the floor. A damp corner of a bag. A notebook or scarf quietly becoming wet.

Nothing dramatic—just a small inconvenience people had learned to accept.

The missing connection

I began to wonder why an umbrella sleeve had to be separate from the umbrella at all.

Why couldn’t it stay connected, ready to use whenever the rain stopped?

That simple question became OAVA.

Designed to stay with you

OAVA keeps the sleeve connected to the handle, where it remains ready whenever rain arrives.

Pulled out through the handle, it unfolds gently around the umbrella and covers it from canopy to handle. The drawstring closure helps contain moisture, making it easier to move from the street to the home, the office, or a bag.

Considered in the details

We believe good design does not need to call attention to itself.

It simply removes a small frustration and makes everyday life feel a little more considered.
